Healthy Habits for the New Year!
The New Year is here and it’s that time of the year when everyone likes to make resolutions and self-improvement goals. This article is going to provide some suggestions of what you could do healthier going into a brand new year!
1. Exercise Consistently: Like many things in life, the results we see depend on the energy or time we put into the goal. Exercise is no different, keep working hard every day and the results will show!
2. Set Goals: Make sure to set goals for yourself that are achievable and attainable. Give yourself something to work on that will lead a healthier, happier lifestyle. Maybe spend a day at the park once a week to relieve stress. If you’ve been stuck at 2 miles on the treadmill, try to increase your goal to 2.5.
3. Careful on the Alcohol Intake: Sure, everybody likes to have a good time and sometimes that involves drinking alcohol. Just try to be careful on how much drinking you are partaking in going into the New Year. Prolonged binge drinking can lead to serious health consequences.
4. Volunteer at an Organization: We know most people are busy and don’t have a lot of time. But maybe if you find yourself with some spare time during 2021, you could volunteer at an organization in need.
Not only will you be helping somebody else, this might bring you some extra happiness. Here is where you can find local volunteer organizations:

5. Adequate Rest: Make sure that you are getting rest. According to the CDC, adults between the ages of 18-60 years old should get 7 or more hours of sleep per night. Ages 61-64 should sleep between 7-9 hours. Ages 65 and older should sleep between 7-8 hours. But each individual is different and these are just the CDC guidelines.
6. Eat Healthy: If you haven’t been to a nutritionist before, this could be the year that you decide to take action! What we put into our bodies is vital to our health. A nutritionist can tailor a food plan to your body’s specific needs in order to be a healthier you! There is always room for improvement!
7. Find a New Hobby: Everyone at some point in their lives go through stressful events. During these times, it’s important to find something new that you enjoy in order to relieve stress. Even if you aren’t going through a particularly tough time, it can still help to prevent stress before the tough times approach! Try taking one of the group exercise classes we offer here at Creek Fit or enjoy Fitness in the Park!
We look forward to seeing what 2021 has to offer and we are more than happy to be a part of it with you. From our Coconut Creek family to yours, Happy New Year!
