Bulk/Waste Pickup Delays

Republic Services delays in bulk and waste pick up are the direct result of staffing shortages, supply chain issues for repair parts and delays on new equipment delivery. If your waste has not been picked up on its regularly scheduled day, please place it out for pick-up on the very next day and call 954-956-1453 to ensure proper notification to Republic Services is provided. Customers can also report missed pick-ups or inquire about billing issues by contacting Republic Services at 954-327-9550 or visiting the City's
Garbage Collection Issues webpage.

Turnpike Expansion

There are several projects under design that all relate to Florida’s Turnpike, the Sawgrass Expressway and the interchange of the two roads. These projects are broken into several different projects, but all have concerning impacts on the City of Coconut Creek. The most current design project relates to the Sawgrass Expressway from SR 7 to Powerline Road. The preliminary plans propose widening from 6 lanes to 10 lanes with the addition of frontage, or collector roads, between the Turnpike interchange and SR 7. As currently proposed, this project may result in significant noise and vibration increases and  exacerbate concerns at the Lyons Road intersection with the Sawgrass. The Turnpike is hosting informational meetings Monday, January 30th,  virtually and Tuesday, January 31, at the Marriott, Coral Springs.  Please attend these meetings and share with your neighbors. For additional information, please click the link provided by the Turnpike.

Landfill (Monarch Hill)

On October 27, 2022, at the Broward County Planning Council  meeting regarding the Land Use Plan Amendment for the expansion of Monarch Hill Landfill, more than thirty Commissioners, staff, and residents spoke on behalf of the concerns of our community.  The Planning Council unanimously voted to recommend denial of the Land Use Plan Amendment application, despite, they said, the application being technically complete. The Planning Council is an advisory board to the Broward County Commission.

The next step will be a public hearing before the Broward County Commission.  Please stay tuned on this page or City social media sites.

City staff covered this topic in detail at the most recent Ambassador meeting which is available for review here.
