Meet our latest Red Honor recipient, Coconut Creek Fire Rescue Firefighter Dominique Cox.
Dominique was born and raised in the Liberty City area of Miami. Cox grew up playing sports at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr park, including basketball, volleyball, tennis, and softball and graduated from Northwest Christian Academy and lead the basketball team to state finals every year. Cox has one championship title in basketball, and made all American by senior year of high school. Dominique went to college at Barry University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training and master's degree in Sports Psychology and Exercise Performance. After her master's degree, she enrolled in EMT, Paramedic, and the Fire Academy at Barry University. Cox is the youngest out of two girls, and has one daughter.
Prior to coming to Coconut Creek, Dominique worked for Hardee County Fire Rescue for a little over three years where she learned a lot from her first department and then decided to come to Coconut Creek, because of the opportunity to be part of a new department that's growing. Also, being at Coconut Creek she feels gave her the an opportunity to grow professionally and individually. "I am all for improving myself, and my skills, in whatever way I can to best serve the community."
We're so glad you serve the residents of Coconut Creek. Thank you for your service!
