The Citizens' Academy is an immersive nine-week program that offers residents a unique opportunity to gain in-depth insights into the inner workings of the City of Coconut Creek. Each class is led by staff from all City departments, and the program culminates in a mock Commission meeting. Best of all, there is no cost to participate in this educational experience. Our goal is to empower participants to become informed, engaged citizens who can contribute to the well-being of our community.

Our Objectives:

Foster Civic Ambassadors: We aim to educate and nurture participants who can serve as trusted and reliable sources of information for their fellow residents.

Cultivate a Diverse Group of Informed Citizens: We seek to create a diverse community of informed citizens who can offer invaluable "ex-officio" advice and feedback on ongoing projects, initiatives, and events.

Build a Robust Civic Leadership Network: Our goal is to establish a robust civic leadership network that encourages greater participation in local affairs and helps shape the future of our community.

As a graduate of the Citizens' Academy, you will become an integral part of an expanding information network. Our hope is that many of our graduates will be inspired to pursue elected office or take on roles in appointed boards.
