Highlights of the Proposed FY 2009 Budget

bulletpoint The proposed property tax rate is 4.8869 mills per $1,000 valuation on taxable property.
bulletpoint Property values (of assessed properties) decreased 10.3 percent and new construction and additions increased by 1.1 percent, for a net decrease of 9.2 percent.
bulletpoint At the beginning of the FY 2009 budget process, the City's department directors were given target amounts for their operating expenses (excluding personnel costs) that represented, generally, a zero percent increase.
bulletpoint For FY 2009, the City anticipates total revenue for all Funds to be about $69.3 million.
bulletpoint The ad valorem tax revenue fund only a portion of our municipal operations. The City's projected property tax revenue of $16.0 million accounts for 62.5 percent of tax revenue and approximately one-quarter of all revenue.
