North Broward Prep Band to Perform June 7
 May 28, 2008
The City of Coconut Creek Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce The North Broward Prep European Charity Band will perform on Saturday, June 7, 2008, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Band Shell at the Coconut Creek Community Center (1100 Lyons Road).
The North Broward European Charity Band will give the home crowd a little taste of what the Band will be performing as they tour Europe this summer. Musical selections range from Jazz, Bach and the Beatles, to Broadway and Rock & Roll. Under the direction of Tour Director Danny Lieberman, the European Charity Band is comprised of select students from North Broward Preparatory School, who will visit London, Salzburg, Amsterdam, Prague, Vienna, Brussels and Geneva. Lieberman, who is also the Director of Fine Arts at Meritas and NBPS, has been leading students throughout Europe for two decades. The tour is tied into the efforts of International Make-A-Wish and this is the 11th year that Lieberman is coordinating and leading a group of teens who will share the gift of music. This year, while in Geneva, the group will make a musical stopover at its Meritas sister school, College du Leman and will do a benefit concert form Make-A-Wish Switzerland. As an added treat, students from the Meritas schools will be flying into Florida on June 6 to travel and perform with the NBPS students. These students will be coming from Mexico, Texas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Orlando.
The concert is free to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for your seating comfort. Chairs will not be provided. For more information, contact the Special Events Hotline at 954-545-6620.
