Coconut Creek Board memberships are one-year appointed positions by sitting Commissioners. Below are descriptions of the City's four Boards. Coconut Creek residents are encouraged to submit their applications for review.
CIVIL SERVICE BOARD
The Civil Service Board is responsible for hearing appeals of any regular Civil Service employee who has been suspended without pay for more than twenty-four (24) hours, demoted, or dismissed and reports its written decision to the City Manager. It also hears and decides grievances of regular Civil service employees. This Board meets on an as-needed basis.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY BOARD
The Environmental Advisory Board is responsible for acting in an advisory capacity to the City Commission on matters concerning and affecting the environment of the City, including the monitoring of air, ground water, and surface water quality programs, and for recommendation of grant applications relating to the environment. The Board meets on an as-needed basis.
PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is responsible for acting in an advisory capacity to the City Commission on the establishment of long-range plans for new and/or improved recreational facilities and the creation of new parts and recreational facilities and improvements to existing facilities.
PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD
The Planning and Zoning Board acts on matters pertaining to land planning and Comprehensive Plan implementation, including final action on site plans and on requests for variances and special exceptions. It also makes recommendations to the City Commission concerning plats, zoning and land use changes, special use requests, Planned Unit Developments, and land development regulations and codes.
