Becky Tooley New Mayor, Len Freund Vice Mayor
 March 17, 2008
During the City Commission’s annual reorganization meeting held on March 13, 2008, and by a unanimous vote, Becky Tooley was named Mayor of Coconut Creek and Leonard Freund was named Vice Mayor. Each March, the City Commission chooses the City’s Mayor and Vice Mayor from among the sitting commissioners for a one year appointment. Once the year is over, the Mayor returns to his or her seat as a City Commissioner.
Becky Tooley was elected to the Commission in 2001 and re-elected in March 2004 and March 2007. She represents District A, which encompasses the area south of Coconut Creek Parkway to the southern boundary of the city, and the west side of Lyons Road to just south of Sample Road. Before her election to the Commission, she served on the City's Environmental Board and Planning and Zoning Board. She currently serves on the Boards of numerous community organizations, is a mentor at Coconut Creek High School through Take Stock in Children and a member of the City's CERT Team. Mayor Tooley is employed as a radiology technician specializing in clinical densitometry and research.
Leonard Freund was elected unopposed to the Commission in March 2005. He represents District B, which encompasses Wynmoor Village, Centura Parc and a portion of the Township. This is Leonard's first time in public office. The former New Jersey and Cape Cod resident "became a snowbird" in 1982 following a career in chemical manufacturing. He moved to Coconut Creek and became active in clubs and associations throughout Wynmoor and the community.
