CITY TO HOLD SPECIAL ELECTION ON MAY 6th

The City will hold a special election on May 6, 2008, to fill the vacant seat in District E, which term ends in March 2009. At the end of the candidate qualifying period, which took place from March 31st at 9:00 a.m., to April 3rd at 5:00 p.m., four residents had submitted qualifying papers to enter the election. The candidates are: Lisa K. Aronson, Steve Harrison, Colleen LaPlant, and Karl F. Simon.

Although this election is being held to fill the vacant City Commission seat in District E, voting in the City is at large, which means that all qualified voters of the City, whose names appear in the registration books of the Office of the Supervisor of Elections of Broward County, will be eligible to vote.

Early voting is not available for this election; however, absentee voting will be permitted through the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office. The last day to request an absentee ballot from the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office is April 30, 2008. Absentee ballots must be received at the Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office by 7:00 p.m., on May 6, 2008.
