Phase III Water Restrictions Now in Effect

Although summer rains helped coastal communities, water levels in Lake Okeechobee and many other lakes, rivers, wetlands and aquifers are very low. For the first time in the agency’s history, the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) has declared an extreme District-wide water shortage, directly affecting more than five million South Florida residents and thousands of farms and businesses.
For Lots under 5 acres:
Odd number addresses – One day: Monday
• Irrigation: 4-8 a.m. or 4-8 p.m. Hand-watering permitted 10 minutes per day.
• Even number addresses – One day: Thursday
• Irrigation: 4-8 a.m. or 4-8 p.m. Hand-watering permitted 10 minutes per day.
For Lots over 5 acres:
• Odd number addresses – One day: Monday
• Irrigation: 12:01-8 a.m. or 4 p.m. - 11:59 p.m.
• Even number addresses – One day: Thursday
• Irrigation: 12:01 a.m. or 4-11:59 p.m.
New Landscaping (in place less than 30 days)
Lots under 5 acres - six days (everyday except Friday)
Irrigation: 12:0-8 a.m.
Lots over 5 acres - six days (everyday except Friday)
Irrigation: 12:01 a.m.-8 a.m.
Landscaping (in place less than 60 days)
Lots under 5 acres - four days (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Irrigation: 2-8 a.m.
Lots over 5 acres - four days (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Irrigation: 12:01-8 a.m.
Any landscape irrigation done outside of the allowed schedule requires a variance from the South Florida Water Management District. Variances are no longer required for activities such as charity car washes and the use of water slides.
