Tooley Named Mayor of Creek

November 16, 2006

Becky Tooley was appointed as Mayor of Coconut Creek on November 9th as a result of Jim Waldman stepping up to his new role as State Representative. Tooley is in her sixth year on the City commission and serving as Mayor for the second time.

“As a Coconut Creek resident for 20 years, and community activist for 19, I am thrilled to serve as Coconut Creek’s Mayor. I look forward to the development of our downtown and celebrating our 40th Anniversary come February,” stated Mayor Tooley.

Before her election to the Commission, Tooley served on the City’s Environment Board and Planning and Zoning Board. She currently serves on the Boards of numerous community organizations including, the Coconut Creek Women's Club, Alzheimer's Family Center Board of Trustees, Northwest Medical Center, Coconut Creek Democratic Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 157. She is a mentor at Coconut Creek High School through Take Stock in Children, a committee member of Coconut Creek/Margate Relay for Life and a member of the City's CERT Team. Mayor Tooley is employed as a radiology technician specializing in clinical densitometry and research.

Tooley will serve as Mayor until her term on the commission expires in March, when she faces re-election.
