Coconut Creek is accepting applications for community minded volunteers interested in being trained as CERT Members.

Coconut Creek residents interested in being trained as part of a Community Emergency Response Team should send an email to spollio@coconutcreek.net with “CERT Member” in the subject line. Please include your full name, address, subdivision and phone number in your email.

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 yrs old
• Residents of Coconut Creek
• In good physical condition

Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and will be expected to attend one three hour class per week, for eleven weeks, and continual quarterly training.

Training subjects are as follows:

• Introduction to CERT
• CPR & AED
• First Aid
• Disaster Preparedness
• Disaster Medical
• Fire Suppression
• Light Search & Rescue
• Pre & Post Storm CERT Operations

CERT Team members will be activated before, during, and after disasters to assist the community as needed
