Free Replacement of Recycled Bins

January 17, 2006

In an effort to improve the City's appearance and to re-invigorate the curbside recycling program, All-Service Refuse has agreed to work with the City of Coconut Creek to replace damaged or faded red recycle bins currently in the residents' possession for the areas of Coconut Creek south of Copan's Road.

On Thursday, February 2nd, customers who place out damaged or faded red bins will have them replaced by All-Service crews. A crew will follow the recycle truck and swap out bins as part of the normal recycle collection. The new bins will help maintain the attractive appearance of our neighborhoods and will remind and encourage residents to recycle.

Residents who are missed during the swap-out or who require additional bins can drop by City Hall for one during regular working hours (Monday – Thursday, 7:00 am – 6:00 pm).

Other areas in the City are not scheduled for bin replacement at this time.

Remember these recycling rules:
Place recyclables curbside before 7:00 a.m. for collection.
Items acceptable for collection include newspapers with inserts, corrugated cardboard, metal cans, brown, green or uncolored glass containers, plastic containers 1, 2 and 3, milk and juice cartons.
Rinse bottles and cans and remove lids. Flatten containers to reduce volume.
Corrugated cardboard must be broken down, folded or cut to approximately the same size as stacked newspaper.
Tie newspaper and cardboard, or place it in a brown paper bag. Do not put newspaper or cardboard in plastic bags.
Keep newspapers and cardboard separated from the commingled material when placed curbside.
Shield newspaper from rain and sprinklers. Soaked newspapers will not be collected.
DO NOT put any other items in the bins that are not specified as part of your recycling program.
You can place out bins even if they are not full.

If you have any questions, you may call the City’s recycling number at (954) 956-1480 or All-Service Refuse at (954) 583-1830.
