DEBRIS REMOVAL UPDATE

November 21, 2005

The City’s debris removal contractor completed the first pass debris removal operation. Second pass operations commenced on Monday, November 28th and should be completed by Monday, December 19th.

The second pass will be the final pass for removal of all hurricane related debris, including vegetative and construction and demolition (C&D) debris from damaged structures. In addition, remaining bagged material will also be removed.

Do not commingle vegetative debris with C&D debris. Plastic bags of leaves and twigs should be placed with the C&D items – not vegetative debris. Please place household garbage in containers. Do not commingle household garbage bags with bags of leaves and twigs. It is extremely important that household trash remains separate from hurricane debris.

Be aware that all of these items will be picked up by mechanical equipment, so piles of debris should not be placed next to mailboxes, fire hydrants, phone and cable boxes, or trees, as these items could be damaged by equipment if the operators cannot see them.

Please be reminded that the City’s next bulk pick up will be January 11, 2006. Bulk items such as furniture, mattresses, or white goods cannot be picked up as part of the hurricane debris removal effort. Debris remaining after December 19th shall be held for disposal during the January 11th bulk pick-up.

The City of Coconut Creek appreciates your cooperation and patience with these operations.

Please call 954-973-6781 for more information.
